FAQs

Whether you are a new sponsor with Engage Hope, or you have been with us for years, here are the questions that we get asked the most.  If your question is not here, please fill out the form below and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

1.  Can I write to my child and is it ok to send family pictures?

Absolutely and Absolutely!  It is our desire that you have a close relationship with your  sponsored child.  If you would like to send a letter, please email it to kim.gekiere@engagehope.org or mail it to Engage Hope, 6505 West Park Blvd., #306315, Plano, TX  75093.

Out of respect for our ministry partners and the work they are trying to accomplish in Uganda, we ask that when you write to your child you do not mention money.  Most of these children live in extreme poverty.  A typical household brings in less than a dollar a day.  Please do not set the expectation that they will receive money from you.  It has been our experience that this will complicate the relationship you have with your child.

2.  Can I send a gift to my child?

Engage Hope will notify sponsors of upcoming mission trips when space is available to send small gifts and letters to the children.  Due to the poverty in the area and the need for basic items, suggested gifts are shoes, clothing and/or small school supplies.   Gifts must be packed in gallon sized baggies and include the child’s name and identification number as well as your name.

At Christmas each year, a donation will be taken to be divided amount our 8 ministry partners for Christmas parties.  In addition to a party, this money will be used to purchase supplies and gifts for all of the children in the Sponsor-A-Child Program.
